Integrative Primary Care

Integrative Mental Health

Whole body medicine looks to identify the source of disease within an individual. Many times that source is physical, such as poor diet, lack of exercise, nutritional deficiency, or hormone imbalance. Other times, however, the source of disease comes from the mind on a mental, emotional, or spiritual level. Naturopathic counseling seeks to find the source of this conflict and help an individual resolve it. Naturopathic Medical Doctors are trained in general counseling topics such as grief/loss, family and marriage dynamics, work place dynamics & career coaching, self esteem, body image, and general life coaching. We are not the primary source of mental health management for more complicated issues.  For schizophrenia, anorexia, psychosis, and severe depression etc. we rely on licensed counsellors and psychologists, however, Dr. Reilly can provide adjunctive care. Many individuals prefer his style of combining body, mind, and emotion – as well as looking at the patient as a whole person. Dr. Reilly has a variety of methods of treating anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, and his training around these issues is multidimensional. Mental health concerns may originate in the mind, come from a physical disorder, or may be a combination of the two. For example, most people are aware of the mental symptoms of anxiety, agitation, and irritability that come from ingesting too much caffeine. Thoughts and feelings can cause distress in the body; however, physiological imbalances can cause the same level of distress.  In those cases, we are able to address these causes which include: Hormone imbalance; Neurotransmitter deficiencies; Thyroid disorders;Nutritional deficiencies; Blood sugar dysfunction; Essential fatty acid deficiency; Digestive problems; Heart disease; Heavy metal toxicity. To diagnose these physiological conditions, we may look at blood work, genetic testing, specialty testing, and analysis of a complete medical history. We feel that if time and finances allow, addressing mental health issues via both talk therapy and natural medicine is the most beneficial and fulfilling for the patient.

In the state of Arizona, naturopathic medical doctors are primary care physicians, or PCPs, which means we see patients for annual physical exams and blood-work, manage PAP exams and breast health, and treat a wide variety of acute and chronic complaints. Naturopathy is a distinctive approach to health and healing that recognizes and celebrates the integrity of the individual, family and community.  Naturopathic medicine emphasizes the treatment of disease through the stimulation, enhancement, and support of the inherent healing power of the human body as part of the web of life. Methods of naturopathic treatment include diet modification, nutritional supplementation, detox therapy, exercise science, botanical medicine, physical medicine, counseling, primary care, regenerative and preventative medicine. The practice of naturopathy emerges from six underlying principles of healing which are based on the objective observation of the nature of health and disease, and are continually reexamined in light of scientific evidence.  Although naturopathic physicians have DEA numbers and can prescribe prescription medications, we use western drugs only when appropriate.  Our naturopaths treat the underlying cause of disease to move patients toward optimal health and wellness.

Allergy Management

Allergic symptoms are thought to affect 50 million people in the United States. Allergic symptoms are the immune system’s extreme response to any substance that is normally found in your everyday environment. Very often, diet changes, nutritional supplements, and herbal remedies can relieve this extreme reaction and the resulting inflammation that triggers most allergy symptoms. Our unique approach to identifying allergies and sensitivities includes one or more of the following: elimination diet, IgA and IgG Food Allergy testing and diet augmentation.

Skin Conditions

A traditional medical approach for skin complaints typically treats symptoms, and approaches the issue topically with creams and pharmaceuticals first.  To look at a skin condition from a holistic approach, we try to address root causes of skin complaints by looking at dietary related skin complaints, gut health and efficiency of natural detoxification pathways.

Pain Management

Naturopathic Manipulation is often beneficial for those seeking care for acute and chronic pain management.  A broad range of techniques can be used to locate, analyze and gently restore joint mobility.  The goal is to optimize health with a non-invasive alternative approach that does not use drugs or surgery. Our team can help patients with acute or chronic conditions, including headaches, neck pain, sciatica and improper function of the nervous system that may result from car accidents, sports injuries, work injuries and other causes. Because natural healthcare is holistic healthcare, patients look to Naturopaths for general wellness, too.  In fact, regenerative and preventative healthcare are amongst the fastest growing areas of medicine.

Preventative and Regenerative Medicine

Wild Wellness Integrative Medicine embraces the advancement and utilization of technology to detect, prevent, and treat age-related disease, and we promote research to optimize the human aging process. We believe that the many disabilities associated with “normal aging” are actually ameliorable to alternative medical treatment and clean, healthy living.  Essentially, the human life span can be lengthened and the quality of life can be much improved when the appropriate preventative measures are taken. We encourage each patient to make the necessary lifestyle changes to prevent pain, neurological impairment, break-down of the immune system, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.

Natural Hormone Therapy

At Wild Wellness, hormone therapy is an art and science. Our ultimate goal is to determine and correct the underlying cause of each patient’s hormone imbalance. Because each individual experiences a unique combination of hormone symptoms, we begin our approach to bio-identical hormone replacement (also called bio-identical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy) by evaluating each patient’s individual symptom picture. Using comprehensive saliva hormone testing and bloodwork, we then measure thyroid hormones, adrenal hormones (cortisol and DHEA) and sex hormones (testosterone, progesterone, estradiol and DHEA), and we assess lifestyle factors such as diet, stress, and activity levels which are vital to hormone health.   From there, we provide a customized hormone treatment plan which may include several different modes of therapy– from diet and herbal tinctures to natural hormone therapy.

Digestive Health

One of the core beliefs in Naturopathic medicine is based on letting food be your medicine, and letting your medicine be your food. Maybe you feel pretty great, and you just want a little extra guidance on optimizing your diet? Maybe you follow a vegetarian diet and you want to be sure you’re doing the best you can for your body? We can approach optimal diet by removing food sensitivities, assessing and supporting nutrient balance, and removing obstacles to optimal wellness.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

The Eastern approach to health and healing is powerful.  Dr. Reilly’s patients get the best of Eastern and Western medicine.  His practice combines the best of naturopathic medicine and acupuncture for a multi-faceted treatment. Acupuncture focuses on supporting and building Qi, the energy that brings health and wellness in an individual.  Acupuncture can be used to treat specific diseases, imbalances, or pain, or it can be used as a form of wellness support.   Dr. Reilly believes supporting health is as important as fighting disease.

Traumatic Brain Injury Therapy

One of the most common brain injuries is due to concussions; however, strokes and transient ischemic attacks also cause damage to the brain. The brain is one of our most vital organs and as a result, it is critical to our overall well-being. In conventional medicine, patients are generally recommended to return home to rest.  While Dr. Reilly believes that all patient's with TBI should have a critical care specialist, neurologist or other specialist(s) managing their case, he is comfortable in offering adjunctive care and primary care, specifically in nutritonal, lifestyle and pain management areas of medicine where alternative modalities and a wholistic approach may benefit his patients.

Lab Testing

Through this service and our many others, Wild Wellness provides the high quality, personalized care you deserve. Once the underlying cause of each issue is examined through comprehensive analysis, customized treatment moves the patient toward optimal health.

B12 Injections and IV Therapy

Injections of B12 and other B vitamins are long acting and help the body achieve higher levels faster than oral supplementation. In addition, by bypassing intestinal absorption, we can overcome barriers presented by certain drugs or metabolic conditions. Within as little as 2 hours and for up to 2 weeks after a B vitamin injection, patients report they feel more energy and uplifted, with an increased sense of well-being. We have found that patients often respond well to a series of six to twelve shots to bring them up to a healthy baseline. After that point, your doctor will advise you whether continued oral supplementation is indicated.

At Wild Wellness, we’re dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized medical care with the most cutting edge technologies available. By continuously evaluating and upgrading our services, we ensure that all patients receive the best treatment for their needs. Get in touch with us today to learn more and schedule an appointment.
